To my fans and the fans of System Of A Down. Though I understand and in some ways relate to the outrage expressed by many of you I ask you not to direct it towards the people who are of Turkish decent or who live in Turkey. These people are just that ,people. They are fans like you, have families like you, and fight against injustice like you. I would like to propose a movement in honor of EVERY person who died unjustly from every nation . Regardless of race, ethnicity , politics , sexual orientation , or any other distinction.
I challenge our fans to reach out to each other and form friendships based purely on your mutual love for music .Pick a fan who is morally, politically , geographically , or religiously different then you are but keep the topic to your passions . You may discover just how similar you are and how futile it is to hate each other.
We are taught from birth to protect our borders, that the religion we follow is the correct one , that we have to kill others in order to ensure our own survival. Well I’m here to tell you that’s all based on fear. Borders don’t exist except in our minds , all religions are equally faithful , and the constant killing of those alien to us can only lead to the eventual doom of mankind.
I’m not afraid , join me and drop the blinding fog of fear. Embrace each other, and revel in your mutual love of music.
