System of a Down at Rock in Rio

System Of A Down performed at the ‘Rock In Rio‘ festival at Cidade do Rock in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last night, September 24th. The bands 27-song set featured a guest appearance from Deftones frontman Chino Moreno on “Toxicity“. Below you can watch pro-shot footage of that entire set below, or if you just came for Chino‘s cameo, check the second video. The setlist for the night ran as follows:

“Suite-Pee” / “Attack”
“Prison Song”
“Soldier Side – Intro”
“Deer Dance”
“Chop Suey!”
“Lonely Day”
“Lost in Hollywood”
“Vicinity of Obscenity”
“Toxicity” (feat. Chino Moreno)

Day two of Riot Fest: System of a Down

Though they had to pause twice to let fallen moshers get unstuck from the mud, System of a Down kept the energy high, muscling through a set of mostly older cuts with remarkable flair and precision. Serj Tankian is still one of the most colorful, playful vocalists around, and his quick flips from rich melody to growls to falsetto whines felt as elastic as they do on record. The band ended the night with the triple punch of “Prison Song,” “Toxicity,” and “Sugar,” all songs heavy with feeling and sharp with humor, all getting us to jump up and down like maniacs despite the pound of mud clinging to each foot.
